Thursday — I picked the rental car up at LaGuardia to start the day. Nicely done Hertz, a spacious, fuel-efficient Mazda Tribute. The car is great, and just in case we forget what kind of car it is, each time we turn it on Mazda Tribute flashes across the radio display.
We'd planned on driving up through New York and Connecticut to Washington Depot, which it seems was the Gilmore Girls' producer's inspiration for the show's setting — Stars Hollow.
The trip started uneventfully enough, with us heading up the highway into Connecticut and stopping off for lunch at Friendly's — Kristin's idea, of course. Whatever, it was the only thing off of that exit, and plus you were STARVING, as usual. — Kristin
Anyway, the service sucked, like, fucking bad. I'm usually pretty tolerant, but this waiter was fucking horrible. It seems Friendly's "thing" is ice cream, and many meals come with a free sundae called a Happy Ending. Seriously, don't they know what that means? You'd think they'd change it. Kristin ate most of it, the few bites I had were delicious. Few bites? Ha!So after a long lunch with a happy ending, it was time to head to Stars Hollow ...
