New Year's resolutions that I have no intention of keeping.

Have you seen the commercials for African Euphoria? I don’t know if I can express how funny they are, but they tip the unintentional comedy scale. African Euphoria is a hair braiding salon, and the commercials just show people walking around trying to look fabulous with their hair braided. The best is when they show the white people. The white guy they show, who is smiling like Michael Jackson at a Chuck E. Cheese, looks like someone dumped a bag of black licorice on his head. It’s pretty damn funny, although I’m sure I didn’t do it justice.

Last night I was fortunate enough to be able to hang out with the Witt and Drunken Jill at 336 Main. Drunken Jill, who apparently is a border cop now, always makes for good times. The Witt is absolutely brilliant and irresistibly sweet. Poor Drew, he fucked things up big time, I hope he can rebound from this, he’s too nice a guy to have a drunken proposal be his legacy.

So it’s New Year’s Eve, eve and I still don’t have plans. I’ve got a few options, but nothing that has jumped out at me. Specifically, I guess I just want to spend it with someone special. It’s a little late now, I know, so I’ll probably just end up getting drunk with Beaker and Do.

Finally, I mentioned a couple days ago about a significant resolution that I am going to put all the effort I have into keeping this year. Here are the specifics:

Diet: I’m not looking to limit my caloric intake, per se, but I want to cut out several things. These items make up most of the overage of caloric intake anyway, so eliminating them (or at least severely limiting them) should take care of that. That said, as of Jan. 1 I will not be partaking in the following: fast food, french fries, coney dogs, hamburgers, soda, beer and sweets. It shouldn’t be that hard to do, I mean, I love chicken and salads, so it’ll just mean I have to make more of an effort to make those things for lunch and dinner instead of McDonalds.

Exercise: I play hockey on Mondays right now, but after the first of the year I’ll also have games on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. There is no reason why, on the off days, I shouldn’t be working out at the gym we have at work. It’s free, it’s convenient, I just need to get the motivation up to go and do it. For the most part I think it will mean working out after work.

I’ve never really made an effort to get in shape or be healthy. I always figured that, as a young man, I’d be all right. I just don’t want to live life like this anymore. After all, I’d like to be around for a while.
